Goodnature

Goodnature is a New Zealand-based mission-driven company that creates smart, humane, toxin-free pest-control solutions. They design, test, manufacture, and ship automatic, self-resetting traps from Wellington. They partnered with ecologists, scientists, and engineers to remove more than 22 million pests globally in an environmentally responsible way.

Goodnature had an existing product but approached Beta Solutions to develop a new version with Bluetooth connectivity, rechargeable power, and smart diagnostics - all while maintaining their high standards for humane, reliable pest control.

Key Features

Bluetooth

The smart trap uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with the Goodnature app, sending useful information to the customer and notifying them of mouse kills.

  • Support for iPhone and Android devices
  • Firmware updating through the mobile app
  • Connected to multiple users at once

Low Power

The smart trap is designed for long battery life, achieving around 100 strike cycles per charge with optimised low-power modes.

  • Integrated rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery delivers up to 100 kills with every charge
  • Ultra-low power consumption even while connected to mobile phone
  • USB-C Charging

Mouse Detection

The device uses infrared-light based sensors to detect and respond to mice entering the trap.

  • Low-cost solution
  • Long battery life
  • Humane kills

Factory Testing Jig

Having a factory test jig custom designed for the board allows Goodnature to test each individual PCB before assembly.

  • Ensures consistent quality across production batches
  • Automates test procedures
  • Reduces human error and training requirements
